Title | Abstract |
| colorectal cancer | Protein-tyrosine phosphatase SHP-2, encoded by gene PTPN11, has been identified as a tumor-promoting factor in several types of leukemia and is hyper-activated by other mechanisms in some solid tumors including gastric cancer, breast cancer, non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), etc. But few were reported on the expression and significances of SHP-2 in colon cancer. Here, we detect SHP-2 expression in colon cancer cells, colon cancer-induced by AOM+DSS in mice and 232 human colon cancer specimens, including 58 groups of self-matched adjacent peritumor tissues and normal tissues. We found that compared to the normal colon tissues, SHP-2 significantly decreased in tumor tissues (P<0.001). The same results were got in colon tumor cells as well as mice colon tumors. And in humans samples, low SHP-2 expression showed a significantly correlation with poor tumor differentiation (P<0.05), late TNM stage (P=0.1666) and lymph node metastasis (P<0.05). |
| laryngeal cancer | We investigated the expression of Src homology 2 domain-containing phosphatase (SHP-2) in laryngeal carcinoma and its clinical significance. expression of SHP-2 was detected by immunohistochemical staining in normal mucosal tissues and various grades of laryngeal carcinoma. We looked for possible correlations between expression of SHP-2 in laryngeal carcinoma and clinical staging and lymph node metastasis. Immunochemical staining results revealed that the SHP-2 expression was significantly higher (88.24%) in laryngeal carcinoma than in normal mucosal tissue (25%). Additionally, the expression of SHP-2 was significantly correlated with lymph node metastasis, but not with clinical stage and gender of patients with laryngeal carcinoma. Therefore, SHP-2 may be useful as a prognostic marker for laryngeal carcinoma and as a therapeutic target in laryngeal carcinoma treatment. |
| lung cancer | BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Precious studies proven that aberrant tyrosine phosphorylation has linked with cancer. The aim of this work is to study the expression and significance of SHP2 in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) through tissue microarray technique and immunohistochemical method. METHODS: Eighty NSCLC specimens were constructed into tissue microarray and performed using immunohistochemistry. RESULTS: The total positive rates of SHP2 were 70.7% (56/80) in NSCLC, 72.5% (29/40) in squamous cell carcinoma and 75% (27/40) in adenocarcinoma, which was not significant difference in sex, age, the size of tumor, histology, clinical stages and differentiation (P > 0.05), the positive rates of SHP2 were significantly higher in the cases with lymphnode metastasis than those without (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The expression rate of SHP2 is high and closely correlated to lymphnode metastasis in NSCLC, which implies the occurrence and development of lung cancer maybe related to SHP2, and SHP2 maybe a new marker and therapeutic targets for lung cancer. |
